Stucco Crack Repair Painted

What you're looking at here is a crack in the stucco that has been repaired by some sort of stucco filler or caulking.

This is a close up of the wall so you can get a good idea of what a repaired stucco crack looks like. This crack ran all the way from the top of the wall to the bottom.

Repairing cracks like this in stucco and painting over them is a temporary fix most of the time. Find out if there are any more cracks in the stucco and possibly what is causing them.

If there are a lot of cracks that have been repaired somehow and painted over, you will need to make a note of this on your home inspection report.

A lot of cracks is not a good sign for a healthy stucco exterior.

As a homeowner this could lead to eventually removing the stucco and replacing it over time.

However let me make this statement perfectly clear, these repairs could last for another 75 years with no damage or very little damage to the exterior.

If you are thinking about purchasing a home, try to keep this in mind, these cracks are there for a reason and some of these reasons could be from house movement, earthquakes, poor stucco quality, poor stucco application or other problems that lead to stucco damage.

When you see cracks like this on the exterior, pay close attention to the interior for any signs of water damage.
