Behind The Microwave
It's not uncommon to find holes or electrical
wiring problems behind the built in microwave oven. While doing your
home inspection, you will probably not remove any of these appliances,
therefore you will have no clue what is behind them.
It's a good idea if possible to slide the microwave oven out and inspect
behind it. Most home inspectors will not remove any of these appliances
to make sure there is no damage behind them.
Some of these items are awkward to handle and they do not want to assume
liability if something like a microwave was to get broken. This is
understandable.
Small holes like the one in the picture next to the galvanized metal
box, could become mice or rat homes eventually and should be patched or
filled as soon as possible.
