| Building a new wall over an existing wall
would not be a problem normally. However this new wall in the bathroom
is being built over a wall that is creating a double moisture barrier.
The new bathroom wall will have a moisture barrier or should I say
should have a moisture barrier to keep the water from the shower going
between the two moisture barriers.
It's not a good idea to have two moisture barriers in one wall. This
could trap moisture and rot the wall framing eventually.
This is another example of why I have built this website and am in the
process of creating books to inform contractors and homeowners about the
perils of home construction.
These are problems that very few homeowners know about and hopefully,
this website used along with my books will provide the necessary home
ownership education.
