Painted Waste Pipes
Waste pipes like this are normally part of the
original building. This for example is in a basement and is being used
as the utility room.
Looking at this picture the plumbing looks like it is built to code but
all plumbing that is visible should be inspected to make sure it meets
local building requirements.
Painting the pipes is not a bad idea and could eliminate corrosion from
the outside of the pipe.
Newer basements will have the plumbing a little closer to an exterior
wall. This gives the homeowner more room in case they would like to
remodel the basement and turn it into living area.
