Sagging Garage Roof

This sagging garage roof ridge looks like it's part of an old structure and it's hard to tell what caused the damage to the roof. Time could have actually been its worst enemy.

A roof like this would not be too difficult to replace and would relatively be inexpensive, because of the size of the building.

The building is not very large and I would imagine that a couple of skilled carpenters could remove the old roof and replace it with a new roof in a couple of days.

Sometimes garages like this sag because there are no collar ties. Collar ties actually prevent the exterior walls from buckling. Some older garages don't have collar ties and this will force the weight of the roof to push the center of the walls out, while causing the roof ridge to sag in the center.
