Steel Framing In Attic
This picture was taken inside of a large
buildings attic and you can see that it is a metal framed structure.
Metal structures are going to be a little different to inspect.
They do not require the same building materials spacing as wood framing
structures.
When inspecting a structure like this, look for missing or damaged
parts.
It wouldn't be a bad idea to locate the original building blueprints and
climb up into the attic with them, while you are doing your inspection.
Most of the time this is not possible but would always be a great idea
if you were thinking about purchasing the property.
If you are going to purchase a property that was built
before 1960, it wouldn't be a bad idea to hire a contractor or engineer
to look at the property with you. Only do this if you are serious about
purchasing the property. These people will charge you for their time.
