False Beam Supports
The arrow in the picture above is pointing to a
decorative beam support. If this beam support was to become damaged, it
could be eliminated or replaced, without affecting the structure of the
building.
This is a false beam support and has no structural value to the house.
If you ever run into a situation where a false beam support has termite
damage, it could be a sign that there are other areas of the house, with
possible termite damage and these areas should be checked thoroughly.
Where the beam supports connect to the stucco, these areas could collect
moisture and over time attract termites. While doing a home inspection,
always check any areas where wood is touching the stucco.
