Ladder Scratching Doors
The picture above shows a six foot ladder leaning
against an aluminum garage door. This is not really a good idea because
the aluminum garage door is usually thin in certain spots and can easily
be scratched.
Over the years I have seen more damage done from simple home maintenance
professionals using ladders and leaning them up against sections of the
house that are easily damaged. Some of these sections include windows,
doors, gutters and siding.
If you need to lean a ladder up against some of the sections of the
house listed above it would be a good idea to wrap some padding around
the top of the ladder.
For large extension ladders you can purchase specifically designed parts
that attach to the top of the ladder to protect the building surface.
You will find a lot of painters with these attachments on their long
ladders.
