Termite Framing Damage
This termite framing damage was part a double sill
underneath an aluminum window. As you can see from the outside of the 2
x 4 there is very little noticeable damage in this window sill it
probably would've lasted another 20 or 30 years if left in place.
The termite framing damage came out a 40 year old house that was just
tented in order to be sold.
As you can see by the size of the holes or termite tunnels these little
guys can do some damage to a wood framed building. The holes run all the
way through the 2 x 4 windowsill and of course led into other framing
members of the House.
Aluminum windows seemed to leak water at their corners and the moisture
attracts termites and of course leads to framing damage that eventually
will need to be replaced.
